2020 Subaru Forester in Haverhill

Overview

Now in its fifth generation, the 2020 Subaru Forester is the perfect crossover for anyone who wants a practical and nicely priced vehicle that's also capable of some adventure. The Forester stands out from its competitors for having standard all-wheel drive, which provides additional traction in less than ideal driving conditions and makes it a popular choice in Massachusetts and the rest of New England. Forester owners praise this vehicle for its off-roading ability, longevity, road clearance, standard driver safety features, and above average fuel economy, among many other great attributes. This model year even adds more standard safety features and an All-Weather Package for the Premium (second level) trim.

Trim Levels

The '20 Forester is offered in five trim levels: Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Touring. The Base trim gets keyless ignition with push-button start, 17-inch steel wheels with all-season tires, and a selection of multimedia and active safety features. The Premium trim adds 17-inch alloy wheels, raised roof rails, a panoramic sunroof, a power-adjustable driver's seat, more multimedia and connectivity features, and the All-Weather package, which adds heated seats, heated side mirrors, a windshield wiper de-icer. The Sport model receives 18-inch black wheels, orange interior and exterior accents, LED foglights, and some additional performance settings. This trim also offers a package that bundles a larger touchscreen, an integrated navigation system, and additional driver-assist features. The Limited trim has leather seating, dual-zone automatic climate control, adaptive headlights, a power liftgate, and an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen. The top-of-the-line Touring trim adds premium leather seating with heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a power-adjustable passenger seat, and DriverFocus technology, which helps prevent driver distraction.

Mechanical Features and Fuel Economy

Like nearly all Subarus, all models include AWD - one of the Forester's most sought-after features. All Foresters are powered by a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine paired to a continuously variable transmission. Its four-cylinder engine delivers a respectable 182 horsepower and 176 lb.-ft. of torque, plenty of power for this capable crossover, which can tow up to 1,500 pounds. Its efficient powertrain helps the Forester get great fuel economy: an EPA-estimated 26 mpg city and 33 mpg highway.

Safety

Like most Subarus, the Forester has been built for the safety of its occupants. It even received a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for outstanding results in government-conducted collision tests. All trim levels get Subaru's advanced airbag system, with side curtain airbags, seat-mounted front side-impact airbags, and whiplash-reducing front seats. Every Forester also comes standard with active safety features like a rear-vision camera and Subaru's EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which includes adaptive cruise control, a pre-collision braking system, lane departure and sway warning, and lane keep assist. Higher-tier Forester trims also get high beam assist, blind-spot detection with lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic braking.
